Tiny Guide to Unawatuna

Guess who embarked on another captivating journey? A beautiful adventure that will linger in my memory for countless years – ME!

It was time for our annual sister’s getaway, a tradition which we’ve upheld since our professional lives began. Our first trip was in 2019, since then, there is no looking back, save the interruption caused by the pandemic, of course.

This time we are in Sri Lanka, Ravana’s beautiful island.

During our stay in Sri Lanka, we made time to visit one of the most famous beaches – Unawatuna Beach, Oh, you stunning beaut!

There is so much to do at this beach with such clean waters and golden sand that we had one of the best times here.

How to get there?

You have a lot of transport options available from Colombo, cheapest being the train journey however, if you have limited time, also you have landed to Colombo after a very long flight I would suggest to hit the road, which should take about three hours with traffic.

Although, the train journey in Sri Lanka is one of the most scenic and beautiful in the whole world and a definite must dos, so are the road trips!

Our road trip to and from Unawatuna was full of lush green roads and the ocean on the other side.

Where to stay?

Thaproban Pavilion – not only do they have big rooms with balconies but one of their rooms also has a jacuzzi which makes for the perfect room to book for a girl’s trip and pour that champagne enjoy some tittle tattle with your girls inside the jacuzzi and surly the perfect room for couples.

What’s also great about this hotel, is their location its closest to the beach with fantastic ambiance and the food is so delicious with a view! They have two swimming pools as well with different ambiance altogether so you are definitely spoilt for choice.

You have some amazing cafes and restaurants just at walking distance from this hotel.
